Entering Villa Rose you arrive first into a cool marble-floored foyer. Ahead of you, the vast open-sided living pavilion with wrap-around ocean views is furnished with several deeply upholstered rattan sofas accented with turquoise to complement the seaside setting.

On either side of the entrance foyer are two large air-conditioned bedrooms – one with a king-size bed, the other with twins. Light filled from walls of sliding glass doors that lead to a small balcony, each has an alcove daybed, comfortable seating and a large marble-lined bathroom with walk-in monsoon shower and a statement terrazzo bath.

Below is another pair of bedrooms – again one with a king-size bed and one with twins. With all the features of the upper level bedrooms, they have the advantage of private pond-side terraces looking over the garden, and alfresco showers adjoining their bathrooms. Separating them is a TV lounge, dominated by an enormous semi-circular couch where up to 10 guests may recline in supreme comfort to watch a film on the 60-inch TV with satellite channels, DVD and Blu-ray player. The huge bar counter also serves as a butler station, and behind is a large kitchen – all gleaming stainless steel and equipped with fridge, dishwasher, juicer and Delonghi coffee maker.

To the front, set below the living room is a large air-conditioned dining room with three walls of glass doors that can be retracted completely if your preference is for tropical open-air living. Pride of place here is a massive table of polished glass set on sculptured roots fanning out from a tree trunk base and surrounded by 14 padded wicker chairs. On the other side of the room, sofas provide another seating area with a killer view. The dining room opens onto an ironwood deck and broad expanse of lawn leading to the 18-metre infinity swimming pool lying almost along the cliff edge. On the deck facing the ocean are three love seats and six wicker sun loungers decorated with turquoise cushions and parasols. Conveniently placed by the boundary wall with The Pala, are guest washrooms and pool shower.
