Rare is the Seminyak villa that can boast a private 21-metre swimming pool. Running the length of the garden with a border of tropical plants on one side and an ironwood sun-deck on the other, this oasis is the visual focus for Casa Brio living. Alongside is the open-fronted, open-plan living pavilion, an enormous space with a teakwood-lined vaulted ceiling soaring above acres of acid-washed marble floor. The villa’s social heart has two zones: a spacious seating area where elegantly upholstered designer sofas are arranged around a large coffee table covered in hurricane lamps, books and objets d’art; and a dining area where 10 comfortable chairs pull up to a massive Suarwood table.  At the extreme edge of this huge living area is a sit-up bar counter and butler’s pantry, and a door leading to the well–equipped chef’s kitchen and staff area.

A wide colonnade runs the length of the living pavilion, from the villa entrance to the two-storey building accommodating four divinely comfortable bedroom suites, each with enormous bathrooms with statement bathtubs and rain-showers. Upstairs are two guest suites, both opening onto a private seating area on the shaded veranda. Downstairs is the master suite, and a twin bedroom that’s particularly suitable for older guests with limited mobility, as it has a grab rail in the bathroom. Both open onto the pool terrace, their entrances separated by a cushioned alcove facing a breakfast bale at the opposite end of the pool.

On the other side of the open stairs up to the bedrooms is an air-conditioned media room with a 42-inch TV with satellite channels and DVD player. With its attached shower room, this can also double as an additional bedroom if required. Above is a rooftop terrace with sun-trap seating looking over the colonnade’s grass roof onto the pool.
